Luckily, The Brain Tru$t learned about the site, HEL LOOKS, the creators of the site admit that it is basically Fruits That Are White People. We found these hilarious skaters, Erik (18) and Mikko (18) on their site. The Brain Tru$t loves these guys because, god, look at those pants.

This is what they told HEL Looks, "Our dream is to do nothing but skate. First we wore tight jeans, then we had baggy jeans for a short period of time and now we've been skating in tight jeans for almost five years again. They just feel more comfortable." HEL LOOKS is a bunch of flicks of street fashion in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

The first video artist, Nam June Paik passed on in his Miami home at 8:00pm EST on Sunday, January 29th, 2006. As a video-art pioneer and member of the post neo-DADA art movement, Fluxus, he will forever be an inspiration to The Brain Tru$t and others, for years to come. "Art is just fraud. Giant Sculptures Vanish! Priceless Works Melted!

Okay, GIANT sculptures are turning up missing all over Europe. Sounds like the premise of an alien thriller, nope. In fact, the loss count is at 20 so far. A 38 ton(!!) Richard Serra piece is missing from the holdings of the Reina Sofia Museum of Madrid. But by and large, the pieces are missing from various London locations and have disappeared within the last six to twelve months. Clothes That DO!

If you are serious about looking for a fashion Do, well here you go. Clothes that do things autonomously of you. This dress, called Vilkas by XS Labs changes shape over time. The dress has a hemline that raises and lowers itself over a thirty second interval. The dress transforms every thirty seconds from being nearly tea-length to revealing the knee and lower thigh. This "magical" dress is felt and contains hand-stitched Nitinol wires that contract. Once heated, the shape-memory wire pulls the cloth together, creating a cinching or wrinkling effect.

Another shape-changing garment by Berzowska and these other geniuses at XS Labs is the Kukkia dress. This piece is decorated with three animated flowers to frame the neckline. Each flower opens and closes over a 15 second interval. The flowers are created with felt and silk petals that provide some rigidity and integrate the same stitiched Nitinol wire as in the Kukkia dress. When heated, the wire shrinks and pulls the petals together, closing the flower. As it cools down, the rigidity of the felt counteracts the shape of the wire, allowing the flower to open. And they say that Roland Mouret's clothes have sculptural elements!

The Brain Tru$t has definitely been wooed by the charms of 2005 "IT" guy, Kanye West. Anyone who can simultaneously release a song about blood diamonds and be known by the moniker of the Louis Vuitton Don is all right by us. The internets are all abuzz with the word that he who calls out George Bush on his nonchalance regarding institutionalized racism is seriously foraying into the world of fashion. Kanye West can hold it down and now he has created his own clothing line. The label is called G.O.O.D., an acronym for Getting Out Our Dreams. This clothing line shares a name with his record label. It is the G.O.O.D. record label of his own creation, that put out Common's amazing album Be and the John Legend platinum debut Get Lifted.

The film, Syriana has gone "climate neutral." Now, this is really something. Climate neutrality in this instance is accomplished by offsetting 100% of carbon dioxide emissions generated by the production of the film in its entirety! An estimated 2,040 tons have been offset through investments made in renewable energy. Native Energy helped the film's producers, Participant Productions, calculate all carbon dioxide emissions from all of Syriana's production activities. Syriana's producers are atoning for filming, air travel, rental car and truck emissions, hotel energy use, diesel generators used on location, office and warehouse energy use, and emissions from shipping! Once they deciphered the amount of energy used during all of these activities the producers then purchased renewable energy credits from renewable energy projects to achieve this climate neutrality.

Visual Data Reprahzent!

One of The Brain Tru$t's newest obsessions is the presentation of data in crazily beautiful complicated visuals. Take this 8 story high kinetic data visualization sculpture for example. This piece was made by Greyworld, a group of London-based artists, as a new symbol for the London Stock Exchange. It is called The Source. The piece consists of a grid of 162 cables arranged in a square.

The cables carry 9 spheres that are free to move independently up and down the length of 32 meters (729 spheres in total). The spheres act like animated pixels, able to model any shape in 3 huge dimensions. The form the sculpture takes and the motion it makes is determined by real-time stock exchange data. At the end of each day, the spheres fall into their resting place all while indicating with blue LEDs inside the balls whether the market was up or down that day. And in the next morning the balls reawaken as the market opens and again leave their cube formation to form relevant patterns. Via Interactive Architecture

Nike's Year of the Dog AF1's dropping soon, feature a lazered toe box, and dogs hair on the heel panel. Whoa. The colors are inspired by traditional Tibetan design and materials including the colors of Monks' inner cloth as well as Temples' patterns.

And why should we wear shoes named after the Year of the Dog? The Chinese Zodiac deems this The Year of The Dog in the fire element. Serious Pirate Party

Swedes rule. A political party has been set up in Sweden that plans to participate in national elections. It is called Piratpartiet and its plans include removal of all immaterial rights, including copyrights and patents. The "Pirate Party" also hopes to stop Sweden's participation in international copyright organizations, such as the WTO. They even want to make it illegal to put any restrictions on distribution of digital content.

Another small item on the agenda of the "Pirate Party" is to push to make it illegal to track or monitor citizens' communications online and offline.

You've probably already admired the work of Bremerton born, UW graduated New York-based architect Steven Holl. He built the urban refuge that is the Chapel of St. Ignatius at Seattle University, one of the dopest modernist buildings around. The shit is so fresh that the scale model of the chapel is part of the permanent collection at NY MOMA. And Steven Holl Architects also built the Bellevue Art Museum. Sweet!

Anyways, the kid is back at it with this amazing Chinese housing plan, The Beijing Looped Hybrid. There is a sky loop and a base loop filled with services for the 2500 inhabitants of the community. The eight towers are linked at the twentieth floor by a ring (the sky loop) of cafes and services and the complex will feature one of the world's largest geothermal cooling and heating systems. This system will regulate the temperature within the eight buildings all while dual pipes pump water from 100 meters below ground, circulating the liquid between the buildings' concrete floors. The water-circulation system will serve as a giant radiator in the winter and cooling system in the summer. It has no boilers to supply heat, no electric air conditioners to supply cool.

The engineering feats are not unparalleled by the beauty at this place. The undersides of the cantilevered portions of the buildings are colored membranes that display a glow at night. And misting fountains from the water retention basin activate the night light in colorful clouds, while the floating Cineplex centerpiece has partial images of its ongoing films projected on its undersides and reflected in the water. Principles of Feng Shui are followed throughout the complex. Word.
